Antti and Tom met at the Satakunta Polytechnic in 2003. Sharing the same class studying computer sciences, they quickly started contributing to common projects fueled by a mutual desire for creating remarkable and modern design. Hitting it off right a way, the guys were fixed at benchmarking sites like A-matter, had endless discussions over design and web technology, and most importantly kept imagining how to change the world to a tad more beautiful place. The seed for Unoam was planted right there and then.
Tom went on to become a graphical designer and changed his orientation after the second year, while Antti enrolled for the University of Tampere to study political science and international relations. Although they lived in different cities, they never lost touch, hence the spark of Unoam was glowing warmly.
In 2008, Tom moved to Tampere, which resulted to the sketching out a business plan, of what then was to become an experimental e-commerce platform for unique imported design products. However, Antti was offered a job in Brussels which made half of the Unoam crew leave Tampere for a while. Tom started to work for different local advertising agencies as an art director.
After Antti headed back to Tampere in late 2009, the times were nigh for Unoam. Tom and Antti hooked up with Markus, with whom Antti had worked together with in Brussels. The first meeting was held in Cafe Europa in 2009, and as a result, the Unoam as we know it, was born.
Today, Unoam is a team of four experts in web design, web development, web usability and project management. When looking at Unoam today, the initial idealism, the same urge to leave a mark, the same enthusiasm are tangible.
