We started by comparing different open source web technologies, and ditched out several candidates that did not meet our predefined qualifications. Our plans involved an easy-to-use platform that would include the digital project management essentials. We wanted our clients and partners to log on to our network, follow the ongoing projects, give feedback and receive suggestions, post comments and share cool stuff with us.
After scanning a myriad of different open source platforms, we discovered Open Atrium. Atrium is a team collaboration tool that includes modern blogging features, a wiki, calendars, case trackers, to-do lists… just to name a few. Atrium is build on Drupal, and it utilizes PHP, MySQL, Apache and it has a great stock design.
Although we’re extremely happy with Atrium, we’ve not lost our touch with the traditional communication methods. The traditional means of communication have a role inside our business strong as ever, and hence in full use: a good phone conversation is always a great way to be in touch, a written letter is a really powerful medium. The only thing we’ve laid off is the fax.
